I welcome the announcement from Minister Shane Ross and Transport Infrastructure Ireland that the investment is to be provided to for a new section of road from north of Roscommon Town to Cooltbigue on the N61. This is a very dangerous stretch of road and there have been many accidents on that road over the years. Hopefully the 2.5km development can be started and competed as soon as possible.
While this announcement is welcome, it is only a drop in the ocean when one considers the investment needed in the road infrastructure Roscommon and Galway. Immediate and major investment is required in the N4 and N5 and there are many other roads in this area and across the West of Ireland that need urgent attention and I will be continuing to put the pressure on Minister Ross and the Government to deliver on these projects as soon as possible.
