VRT Appeals System For The Disabled Totally Unfair

By September 16, 2015No Comments

It has come to my attention that disabled people, whose application for relief of VRT when they purchase a vehicle and are turned down, are being asked to travel to Dun Laoighre to attend interviews to appeal the decision. This is a totally unfair an unacceptable situation. I have met people who are not able to arrange to travel to Dun Laoighre and facilities for these people to be interviewed in the West of Ireland are other rural areas should be provided immediately. Services for disabled people are very much in the news and rightly so and we have a lot of work to do in order to bring our facilities up to scratch. This situation is one where rural people with disabilities are being discriminated against and I am calling on the Minister to address this situation without delay.
