Taoiseach Comments ‘Condescending’

By February 4, 2016No Comments

The remarks of the Taoiseach Enda Kenny yesterday that the vast majority of Irish people do not understand economic jargon is a comment that is condescending and insulting to the electorate.

Can I remind Enda Kenny can that the vast majority of people in this country have run their households and businesses and kept them afloat under the most severe austerity that we have ever seen over the past five. That proves without doubt that in fact most ordinary Irish people have an excellent knowledge of economics.
Can I also remind the Taoiseach that it was the Irish people who suffered over the years of austerity and it was the sacrifices they made that made the economic recovery possible. Dodging questions about the economy is a poor start to the campaign and it would serve Enda Kenny much better if he were to engage with the electorate and answer the questions he is asked.
