Slurry Spreading Season Must Be Extended

With the weather situation the way it has been in the West of Ireland, it is imperative that the Minister for Agriculture announce an extension to the slurry spreading season. I have seen over the weekend where contractors have tried to go out with slurry but they had to abandon what they were doing due to ground conditions. The Minister and the Department officials must realise what’s going on because all farmers are doing now, if they have to go out and spread, is to destroy the ground. The Minister should not be looking over his shoulder at what Europe are thinking. He should just extend the deadline and apologise to no one for it
