Safe Link Funding Must Be Restored

I am very disappointed to learn today that funding for the Safe Link service for county Roscommon has been withdrawn by Tusla. The service, based in Boyle, and which has provided a vital role in dealing with women and men who are suffering domestic violence, last year alone they had over 1,900 appointments. I have attended many meetings on this issue in recent months and I will be seeking an urgent meeting with Minister Reilly to discuss this latest turn of events and to get the funding restored. Once again the most vulnerable people in our society are being forgotten about and left to fend for themselves. The committee met with Minister Reilly only two weeks ago but obviously he has not listened to them. This is a devastating blow for clients and staff at the service and I will be raising this as a matter of urgency this week
