People Power Yields Results On Health Facility Funding

By January 28, 2016No Comments

The news that 9 million Euro has been awarded to the Sacred Heart Home in Roscommon, 15.75 million Euro for St Patrick’s Hospital in Carrick on Shannon and 850,000 Euro for the refurbishment of Aras Mhatair Pol in Castlerea is very welcome news and it is a reward for the huge number of people who turned up at meetings and put the pressure on, and a united front from all politicians in the area has now borne fruit. Now with the election imminent the heat is on and this Government has been forced into action by people power

In the case of the Sacred Heart Home it is a credit to the staff the level of patient care that they have delivered for decades past which is second to none and I welcome this announcement. I have been involved in the campaign on behalf of St Patrick’s Hospital and the announcement of funding for there is also very welcome. It is also welcome that Aras Mhathair Pol will be refurbished and it shows that public pressure can lead to positive results.
