Serious operations are being cancelled in Galway and in other hospitals and lives will be lost unless the situation is addressed immediately.
I have been contacted by a constituent this morning who tells me that a seious opeation that they were due to have today has been cancelled for the second time. This is not an isolated case and many people are having serious operations and procedures cancelled at short notice in a hospital system that is in crisis. Lives will be put under threat and lost if this situation continues. That is the reality and that’s quite apart from the worry and annoyance of the patients at having these operations cancelled. It is a situation that Minister Harris and The HSE will have to address immediately and I will be raising this as a matter of urgency this week.
