Rules and Regulations,many of which come from Europe are crippling rural Ireland and I will continue to oppose the ever increasing number of laws which makes life more difficult for people..
The EU and successive Irish Governments have failed to address many problems in rural areas.Rules on slurry spreading, environmental designation, turf-cutting,one off houses,fencing and land improvements all have a disproportionate impact on the small farmer. We also have to find solutions to our flooding problems which have had such a devastating effect on so many families. EU regulations add to escalating costs and poses a serious threat to family farms and I will be raising these matters on an ongoing basis in support of small rural communities and small farmers.
