Immediate Statement On Rehab Unit Demanded

I am today calling on the Minister for Health Simon Harris to make a statement on the situation with regard to the funding for the proposed Rehab Unit at Roscommon County Hospital. It is my information that the 7.8 million Euro earmarked for this project may not be made available until 2020 and that situation is totally unacceptable. Anything can happen in four years and this looks like a project that is being put on the long finger like a lot of projects for the West of Ireland. I hope that this project was not announced for political purposes alone. It has been shown that this unit is badly needed, not only in Roscommon but as a service to patients in the West of Ireland. This project much be started as soon as possible and I am calling on our local Government oireachtas members to put the pressure on Minister Harris to speed up this funding so that this unit can be provided in Roscommon as soon as possible,
