Housing Strategy Affected By Lack Of Decision Making

By January 28, 2016No Comments

A lack of decision making is affecting the Government and the authorities in tackling the housing crisis that we have at present…….

There is a lack of decision making on this issue throughout the country. I was at a meeting in Roscommon recently and heard that there were just 10 housing starts are planned which is incredible to be honest. There are builders out there who can construct houses at a very reasonable rate and we should go down that road. Let NAMA get involved if need be because they have the finances. There would be employment created and it would result in a boost to many rural towns and villages. We have heard about temporary accommodation and modular homes as possible solutions but why not provide the houses that are needed on a permanent basis. Temporary accommodation will never solve this problem. We have to take the bull by the horns on this issue and build the houses that are needed throughout the country.
