Government Must Commit To Fund Sacred Heart Hospital

By October 2, 2015No Comments

I am very disappointed with the lack of commitment on funding for the Sacred Heart Hospital in Roscommon given to me by the Taoiseach in the Dail today (Wednesday). In his reply to a question I asked on funding for the refurbishment of the hospital Deputy Kenny said that no commitment on funding can be given until after the budget. I explained to the Taoiseach that there are elderly people in the Sacred Heart Hospital who are receiving top class care and who are fearful about the future. However he wouldn’t commit to any funding except to say that the HSE will make a decision in October as to where they will be spending the money which will be available to them. This is totally unsatisfactory for the patients and staff at the Sacred Heart Hospital. I will be asking leaders questions for the next couple of months and if the Taoiseach thinks that this issue will go away he is highly mistaken as I will be pursuing it until it is resolved to the satisfaction of everyone concerned
