While I welcome the decision of the Department of Agriculture to extend the deadline for GLAS scheme applications to Tuesday at midnight,t I would much prefer if the deadline was moved back at least until next Friday. I have been pointing out the problems that there have been with the terms and conditions for this scheme on a constant basis for the past few months and the extension of the closing date is an admission by the Government that farmers and the planners have not had enough time to comply with the terms and conditions of the scheme. I have also been pointing out the problems that there have been with the computer system in this regard as well. For once it would appear that Minister Coveney and the department are actually listening to the problems being encountered by farmers on the ground.
