A number on months ago I highlighted the problem wherby people who have been released from hospital and who are entitled to home care packages were not getting those facilities, and I regret to say that nothing has improved in that regard in the interim. There are a number of constituents who have come to me in this position in recent months. Here we have the HSE and the Minister advocating that people should be released from hospital and looked after in their own homes yet the packages that would facilitate that and save the taxpayer are not being put in place.
In a week when we were told that the economy is improving and that the recession is over we have this situation where there is not funding available to help some of the most vulnerable members of our society. I will be raising this matter once again with Minister Varadkar and with the HSE.
