I welcome the decision by the cabinet today to set up a fund of 5 million Euro to assist small businesses who cannot get insurance and who have been affected by the severe flooding over the past week. This comes in addition to the home assistance fund which is already in place. I hope that these funds can be dispersed quickly and that red tape is kept to a minimum. There are many small business people in this region who have been badly affected by these floods and stock has been destroyed in the run up to the busiest trading time of the year. Farmers who are affected are to be given flexibility for animal movements and inspections for a period and I also welcome that initiative although farmers who are having fodder problems because of the flooding should also be supported.
