Fergal Quinn To Chair Independent Alliance

Yesterday Senator Fergal Quinn was appointed the parliamentary chairman of the new Independent Alliance and I want to welcome that news. Fergal Quinn will not be standing for office at the next Seanad Election but he will bring a wealth of experience to the Alliance and his advice and guidance will be very important to the group as it progresses. We have been talking to a number of people around the country abut the next election and so far there are about 20 candidates interested in running. There will be more announcements in that regard in due course. We hope to make more progress on the direction of the group over the coming months and Senator Quinn will be a big help to us in that regard and I looking forward to working with him.
