Endoscopy Unit Welcome But More Needs To Be Done At Roscommon County Hospital

By September 9, 2016No Comments

I warmly welcome the official opening of the Endoscopy Unit at Roscommon County Hospital by Minister Harris and any new services at Roscommn County Hospital are very welcome. However while attending the opening of the unit, a number of local residents approached me to highlight the severe parking problems that now exist in the vicinity of the hospital. Apart from the fact that local residents are being affected, patients are having to walk long distances for treatment. Resources needs to be found to provide extra car parking at the hospital and with the extra traffic that will result from the opening of the Endoscopy Unit, the need for more parking is an urgent issue.

I also welcome, at long last, the announcement by Minister Harris, after much pressure being put on by myself and others, that the proposed Rehab Unit at the Hospital will be progressed to the next stage, which is planning. This took four months of constant pressure since this Government was formed to get to this announcement and hopefully the funding will be provided to bring this project to completion as it will be of huge benefit not only to the people of Roscommon, but the people of the West of Ireland in general.
