The search for Ireland’s “Best Young Entrepreneur of 2015” with a €2 million investment fund and various supports is now at an advanced stage. The aim of this initiative is to support a culture of entrepreneurship and to encourage young people to develop sound business ideas with a view to setting up enterprises and creating employment.
The competition starts off at county level and the winners proceed to eight regional finals culminating in the National winner being cho…sen. The County Roscommon winner wwas announced at a gala ceremony held in the Abbey Hotel on Friday 16th Oct. Enda Mahon emerged as winner from a field of ten talented contestants which augurs well for the future of entrepreneurship in the West of Ireland. Enda was presented with a trophy, certificate and cheque for €10,000.
“I am delighted with this award” said Enda, “I am happy that coming home from Australia has been worthwhile and I have got great help and support from various agencies so far”
I congratulated Enda on his great achievement. Its great to see some of our young people returning home and putting their skills and experience to good use here at home. I also congratulate LEO (Local Enterprise Office), Enterprise Ireland and the Department for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation for their work in supporting young entrepreneurs. It’s good to see that Enda has got support from many agencies so far and he is at the moment participating in the ‘New Frontiers Programme – Phase 2’ at Athlone IT which comes with grant support of €15,000″.
Enda has spent the last five years working in a Supervisory role with Murphy Pipe and Civil in Australia where he has gained lots of experience on water, gas and oil pipelines. “My real dream is to develop my own invention and to set up a manufacturing base right here in the west of Ireland” said Enda
