I received the following notice from Roscommon County Council this week
“Roscommon County Council recently announced that applications for funding are now being sought under the Community Tourism Initiative for the Diaspora. The initiative, launched last year, builds on the community involvement legacy of The Gathering 2013 and is a joint partnership between Roscommon County Council, IPB Insurance and Fáilte Ireland”
“Now in its second year, the scheme provides a national fund of €1m to support local community-based events and festivals each year. Last year, 30 local events were supported in Roscommon, attracting up to 7,000 visitors from overseas. The festivals funded last year included: International Sheep Dog Trials, Athleague Fair and Festival, Féile Samhraidh Kilteevan, Rose Festival”
“Administered locally by Roscommon County Council, the application process for 2015 is now open and will close on April 2nd 2015. Interested parties are advised to contact 090 6637325 or email@example.com to apply. Applications can be submitted by email or post”
I welcome the above news and urge communities who qualify to apply for funding under this scheme.
