Community Gardai The Key To Solving Rural Crime

I welcome today’s news that the Gardai have broken up a crime gang that were behind hundreds of robberies in rural Ireland. It is also significant that Gardai identified a farming insider who was supplying information such as access codes to gates and locks and locations of keys etc as a vital member of that gang. This is what I have been saying all along that these criminals are getting information locally and that local intelligence is so important when it comes to solving crimes like these. Local Gardai stationed in rural areas were always able to pick up this kind of information and it is time that we returned to that situation.
