A commitment to the provision of an 8 bed Hospice Unit at Roscommon Co Hospital by 2020/2021 was given at a meeting which was held today in Leinster House between local Oireachtas members, members of the Mayo-Roscommon Hospice, and Minister for Health Simon Harris TD and that is to be welcomed.
Cynthia Clampett and members representing the Mayo Roscommon Hospice met with local Oireachtas members in Leinster House today and Minister Simon Harris gave a commitment to the development of an 8 bed Hospice Unit at Roscommon County Hospital by 2020/2021 which is very welcome. This will be a unique development as it will be integrated with the existing hospital and will be paid for largely by the Mayo-Roscommon Hospice. I want to congratulate the people from the Hospice organisation for the excellent work they do in our community and I can assure them of every support going forward. The unit will cost over four and a half million Euro to construct and will require at least 15 staff to operate and I will be working hard to ensure that this much needed facility comes to fruition over the next few years.
