Bus Disputes Must Be Settled

I have appealed to transport Minister Paschal Donohue to redouble his efforts to solve the national bus strikes that are planned for May. “Regardless of the issues, every dispute has to be settled through negotiations, and I am calling in Minister Donohue and the unions to get back around the table and come to a solution. The losers in any strike are the travelling public and it is not good enough in this day and age that people in Dublin and in rural Ireland will be without a bus service. We are coming into the tourist season and we need our travel infrastructure in place. The public will not thank Minister Donohue if this dispute is allowed to continue and to disrupt the travel plans of hundreds of thousands of people The unions also have a role to play in this regard but the Government must take the lead”
